2. Week 1

I have always considered myself to be a generally healthy person. I have been fortunate enough to have never been admitted to hospital, never undergone surgery and required no medication. At the beginning of 2022, I feel a responsibility as a doctor to be a good example to my patients. It’s a fact that, “Healthy doctors are more likely to produce healthy patients”. Now that’s a good place to start:

Weight: 92.25kg

Height: 1.91m

BMI: 25.6 (Overweight) NB different reference range if you are Asian

Body fat: 18.6% (Acceptable but not fitness)

Visceral Fat: 8 (Less than 12 considered normal on the Tanita Scale)

BP: 141/97 (abnormal)

Waist Circumference: 96cm (normal for male is <102cm, female <88cm)

Neck circumference: 43cm (17 inches) ((neck circumference ≥32 cm for women and ≥37 cm for men) have a high capacity to predict moderate/high CVRs)

Resting Pulse: 60

To summarise:

I am overweight, with a raised total body fat which could be better and a raised neck circumference. Most significantly, I have a raised blood pressure (BP).

How am I going to address this?……
